spa day

Went to a day spa for the first time today, a treat to myself for my birthday.

Wow.

Because I had changed my mind so many times, I was late in making a reservation and most of the places in Tucson aren't open on Mondays. The place that was open was called Touch of Tranquility. I had planned to get a facial, manicure and pedicure, but the manicurist and pedicurist had the day off, so I was just in for the facial.

Like I said, I had never been to a day spa and had no idea what to expect. This is how it went.

After I signed in I was taken to the locker room and assigned a locker to put my things in. I was given a robe and slippers to wear. After I changed I was taken to a candle lit room and offered a choice of drinks (non alcoholic of course). I sat sipping my tea for about five minutes, then the welcome ceremony was performed. It was a lady who placed a warm, mint scented, towel around my neck while she wrapped my feet in warm towels and massaged them.

Next I was taken to the room for the facial. Rachael, the lady who did the facial, explained every step as she perfomed it. My face was exfroliated, cleansed, and a mask was put on. While the mask was 'curing' she massaged my shoulders, arms and hands. The one hour treatment flew by.

Afterward I was shown into what they call the Brine Room. It's a room with lounge chairs and a waterfall on one wall. The water has the same salt consistency of sea water and is said to be good for your sinuses and lungs. While you are in the brine room, they will bring you juice, water, tea, or fruit, all you need to do is ask. You can stay and relax in the Brine Room as long as you want. I was in there a little over an hour.

My face looks so good, younger and softer. I feel fantastic. I have decided that this is a pampering that I deserve, and I'm going to do it once a month. I made my next reservation before I left.

And after I get back on track with my Weight Watchers and lose more weight, I might even get up the nerve for a massage.

trick or treat

A couple of months ago, WickedFox asked for stories based on Halloween. I said I would like to try, and, of course, promptly forgot.

A few days ago (last week?) she posted a manip that she had made for Mrs Drake. It gave me an idea.

So, WickedFox, here's part one of my Halloween story.

Mrs. Drake, I hope you don't mind that I used your manip as my inspiration, but really the story isn't anything at all like yours. I'm going a whooole differnet direction.
